ST PAUL'S E-VANGEL: Our newsletter with pictures, stories and news of what is happening at St Paul's.

ST PAUL'S ELECTRONIC GIVING PROGRAM  Make your pledge on line.  St Paul's offers the opportunity for you to contribute using Visa, MasterCard, American Express, or Discover.  Additionally, you may use direct debit from your bank account.  You may sign up for this service either on line by clicking here or by completing a paper form available in the church office.  For more information, please call Bill Hurd at 561 276 4541.


THE CHRISTIAN SPIRITUAL TRADITION: WEDNESDAY MARCH 10 AT 6:30 PM Exploring the lives and spiritual ideas of five spiritual giants.  Four Wednesday evenings in Lent, beginning Wednesday March 3 and ending March 24.  Each class begins with a soup supper at 6:30 pm and the class will start at 7:00 pm.

During this five week series, participants will learn about the lives and explore key spiritual ideas/insights of five major figures from the Christian spiritual tradition.  Included will be an introduction of the life and work of St Benedict of Nursia; St Catherine of Sienna; St John of the Cross; St Theresa of Avila and St Bonaventure.  Sign up in the courtyard.


WOMEN'S LENTEN DISCUSSION: THURSDAY MARCH 11 AT 9:00 AM  Six Thursday mornings, beginning February 18 and ending March 25 from 9:00 am - 10:00 am.  New this year - Lenten Themes in Movies.  We will watch clips of movies followed by a discussion of how the clip is supported by scripture.  Movies have shaped modern culture from the time of silent pictures and have created some of our most treasured moments, memories & insights.  They have also provoked some of our deepest conversations.  Like all good books, movies are theological.  This week's study will be on the movie Shadowlands.

MUSIC AT ST PAUL'S SUNDAY MARCH 14 AT 4:00 PM - SONGS OF LIFE AND DEATH  St Paul's Choir and soloists with Sinfona Del Re, featuring Jose Mauricio Nunes Garcia's requiem.


THE TURNOVER SHOP BOOK SIGNING EVENT: TUESDAY MARCH 16 FROM 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM  Author Alice Heard Williams will be at the Turnover Store to autograph copies of her new book Tracking the Carpaccio.  Come and meet Alice and shop at the newly refurbished Turnover Shop.  Bring your friends to see the beautiful new items and amazing bargains.  When you shop and buy, as well as donate items, you are supporting St Paul's Mission & Outreach Programs.  Hope to see you there.


SPIRITUAL GIFTS - DISCOVERING GOD'S VISION FOR YOUR LIFE: TUESDAY MARCH 16 & MARCH 23 AT 6:00 PM  Spiritual gifts are described as unique endowments of the Holy Spirit, generously shared with Christians in community for building up the body of Christ in practical ways.  Many of us are used to identifying our secular and job related gifts & skills.  Discovering spiritual gifts adds a new dimension and measure to our understanding of what we are called to do.  Sign up in the courtyard to learn more.


LENTEN LABYRINTH WALK - EVENING OF PRAYER AND MEDITATION: FRIDAY MARCH 19 FROM 6:30 - 8:00 PM  At the Duncan Conference and Retreat Center in Delray Beach.  Leader: Dr Gail Chewning.  You are invited to an evening of quiet meditation and reflection in the candle-lit chapel of the Duncan Conference Center.  Click here for more details.


PILGRIMAGE - FOLLOWING THE FOOTSTEPS OF PAUL IN GREECE AND TURKEY: APRIL 18 - MAY 1 2010  The journey begins in Athens and the Areopagus where Paul made his famous 'Men of Athens' speech and continues on to the ancient cities of Philippi and Troy.  Pilgrims will cross into Turkey to see Ephesus, one of the seven wonders of the ancient world.  The journey will end in Istanbul where participants will visit the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia Church.  If you are interested please see Father Stokes.


WOULD YOU LIKE TO LEARN FIRST AID / CPR / AED?  If you are contemplating going on a mission trip; are a care-giver; work with children, or would just like to be trained in these areas, St Paul's will be offering a training program in conjunction with the American Red Cross.  The program would be held on two consecutive Tuesdays at the church.  The cost is $10 per person.  If you are interested there is a sign up sheet available on the welcome wagon in the courtyard.  Exact dates and times will be set once we determine the number of individuals wanting to participate.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR PAUL'S PLACE AFTER SCHOOL  Paul's Place is operating over their projected number of 20 students and many who volunteer during the season are not back yet.  Volunteers are needed to shop for and cook food for the evening meal; to supervise outdoor activities; tutors to help with homework and drivers for field trips.  The students start arriving about 2:30 pm and leave at 7:00 pm.  Volunteers can work in shifts during that time.  Please see the sign-up sheet in the courtyard.

USHER AND WELCOMING MINISTRIES  We are always looking for more volunteers for the St Paul's Usher Ministry and Welcoming Ministry.  If you would like to sign up or just have questions about these ministries, please call Margo Vuicich at 561 638 9495 or sign up in the courtyard.

ST PAUL'S STRATEGIC PLAN 2013: 'FRUITS OF THE HARVEST'  The Vestry of St Paul's Episcopal Church in Delray Beach, Florida has commissioned the creation of this Strategic Plan to help guide our church's journey over the next five years.  The Plan is a formal statement of who we are as a church and where we want to be as a church in the future.  This Plan is an important tool which will help ensure St Paul's best achieves its Mission, Vision, and Goals.

ALTAR FLOWER DONATIONS  Altar flower memorials and thanksgivings are a lovely way to remember loved ones.  The chart for altar flower donations is in the hallway outside the Parish Hall.  Sign up with your name on the date required and then call the church office with the wording that you would like to appear in the Sunday bulletin.  Please send a check for $50.00 made payable to St Paul's Episcopal Church.
