GETTING TO KNOW C.R.O.S MINISTRIES

C.R.O.S Ministries runs three food pantries in our county including the Community Food Pantry as well as the Caring Kitchen here in Delray.  On a daily basis, St Paul's refers people in need to these community resources.  C.R.O.S also offers Day Camps for children ages 6-11 and Camp Outreach for children ages 9-11 - serving the children of our community, including our own Paul's Place kids.  After school snacks for children, a computer mentoring program, gleaning of the fields program and long term hurricane recovery assistance are services of C.R.O.S in Palm Beach County.

The C.R.O.S. Caring Kitchen is a busy place. Stop by at 196 NW 8th Avenue in Delray Beach or call April Hazemy at 278-0918 to volunteer.

The Need: Over the past year and a half, C.R.O.S Ministries has seen a 105% increase in the number of individuals seeking emergency food assistance from its food pantries.  In 2007, C.R.O.S food pantries served 44,211 individuals, 40% of whom were children.  

St Paul's response: St Paul's Mission and Outreach budget has made our annual $10,000 contribution to C.R.O.S, and throughout the year we support this vital ministry.  Routinely we collect food for the Community Food Pantry.  We will have collection points located in the Church and the items will be blessed and delivered to the Community Food Pantry.

Monthly we cook a meal and send it to the Caring Kitchen.  We raise money during the annual C.R.O.S walk and St Paul's made a donation to C.R.O.S Ministries in honor of our Vacation Bible School volunteers.  Additionally, the congregation and the VBS families made donations of 50 Walmart $25.00 gift cards for families to buy school clothes and shoes.  We have also provided an additional 20 gift cards to the families of our Paul's Place children.  Thank you for your generous support of these worthy ministries.
