Be Joyful in the Lord, all ye Lands. Serve the Lord with Gladness, and come before God's presence with a song! (Psalm 100, verse 1)
Worship is the most significant thing
we do at St Paul's and music is an integral part of our
worship. The St Paul's Choir has an established tradition
of excellence in South Florida. The choir is made up of
people of all ages who love to sing. They are supported by
an octet of paid professional singers.
The choir sings music in a wide
assortment of styles and genres, and performs two concerts
each year as part of the Music at St Paul's concert series. The rehearsals will cover music long in advance of its performance, so there is ample time to get comfortable with the repertoire. We also focus on the technical aspects of singing, so even if you haven't sung in a while you will be gently guided toward using your voice to its greatest potential.
As with most choirs, St Paul's is perpetually short of men, so we especially encourage men to consider becoming part of our group, but we heartily welcome singers in all sections. No audition is required.
If you love to sing and would like to be a part of the choir, please contact Dr Keith Paulson-Thorp through the Parish Music Ministries by calling 561 278 6003, or E-mail Dr Keith.
If you would like to audition for a professional position, please contact the director for an appointment.
CHILDREN'S CHOIR
Rehearsals for the St Paul's children's choir will be held on Tuesday afternoons from 4:45-5:30 pm. Children ages 5-13 are encouraged to join us.
We will be singing at liturgy on a monthly basis, as well as at the Christmas and Easter family services.
Children will learn varied and appropriate music for the church's liturgy, and elements of music and music reading. They will come to understand how the liturgy and the church year work, and how they can see their role as one of ministering to the assembled community using their voices.
This year we will be implementing the Royal School of Church Music's Voice for Life program.
Participation in a choir helps foster a sense of team effort and discipline. Developing music skills, especially at an early age, has been shown to improve academic performance.
We will also need parents to assist with monitoring children during rehearsals and helping them with vesting, ordering their folders, etc. If you have questions, please call Dr Keith at 561 278 6003.
It is parental participation that makes a strong youth music program possible, so let us know your thoughts.
